New Delhi:  Navy Chief Admiral R Hari Kumar, during Navy Day 2021 press briefing held on Friday, said the naval force is ready to tackle both the challenges such as the situation in northern borders and, COVID-19 pandemic. 

Navy Chief Admiral R Hari Kumar assumed the office of the  Chairman of the Staff Committee (CoSC) recently.  

Asked about the handling of the COVID-19 pandemic, Admiral Hari Kumar said, "The facilities at Navy hospitals have been enhanced to meet the challenges of COVID-19. We have not relaxed SOPs for our personnel to ensure that operational capability is not affected. We'll continue to do that till the time the Omicron threat is not ruled out".

"Despite COVID-19, the Navy has maintained combat and mission readiness and resulted in preventing any misadventure in its maritime domain", added Hari Kumar.

About women officers in the naval force, he said, "We have taken measures to provide additional opportunities to women officers. The first women Provost officer joined in March this year. Navy is ready to induct women in different capacities".
