Kiev: As the war continued in Ukraine unabated and Russia continued its assault, international media has claimed that Russian forces have dropped a missile over a crowded train station where thousands of Ukrainians had gathered.

The incident has reportedly killed at least 50, including five children and wounded dozens more.

According to the media reports, the station was packed with mostly women and children trying to flee amid the shelling on the eastern side of Ukraine.

Meanwhile Western countries have condemned the attack and described it as yet another Russian war crime in the 6-week-old conflict. The workers working on the ground to rescue people have reportedly found more bodies from a mass grave in Bucha, a town near Ukraine's capital where dozens of killings have already been documented following a Russian pullout.

Images from the Kramatorsk railway station showed the dead covered with tarps on the ground and the remnants of a rocket. About 4,000 civilians were in and around the station at the time of the strike, heeding calls to leave the area before fighting intensifies in the Donbas region, the office of Ukraine's prosecutor-general said. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and other leaders accused Russia's military of deliberately attacking the station. Russia, in turn, blamed Ukraine, saying its forces don't use the kind of missile that hit the station.

While Russia is refuting allegations that its forces are targeting civilians, Ukraine has been blaming the Russian forces of not only killing civilians but also making attempt to hide the evidence of the mass murders.

Ukraine’s president Zelensky has been appealing to the world community to extend a helping hand, the US meanwhile has reportedly supplied millions of dollars’ worth of arms to Ukraine to fight against Russian forces.

While the war continues, media reports are coming in that hundreds of thousands of people who are stuck in different cities of Ukraine are facing severe shortages of essential items such as food and water.
