Mission Gujarat: AAP Convenor Kejriwal, Punjab CM Mann on two days tour

Ahmedabad: Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann visited the Sabarmati Ashram in Ahmedabad on Saturday. Both leaders are in Gujarat for a two-day visit, as the state's Assembly elections are set to take place later this year.

After a resounding victory in the Punjab Assembly elections, the AAP is on a mission to expand its base across the country. The party has already announced that it would fight on all 182 seats in Gujarat.  As Gujarat is slowly plunging into the election mood, political parties have started their preparation to form the next government by winning more seats.

Both leaders took part in a rally called 'Tiranga Yatra' in the city in the evening where around 50,000 AAP workers participated. Both Kejriwal and Mann will hold a meeting with the key local leaders.

Delhi and Punjab sorted, now we are preparing for Gujarat..." says Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann as he held the roadshow with Kejriwal in Ahmedabad.

Kejriwal and Mann earlier in the day visited Sabarmati Ashram and toured Hriday Kunj, the place where Mahatma used to say in the Ashram, they also visited the museum and bowed down before the statue of the Gandhiji. They also scribe their opinion in the visitors' book. They also tried their hands at spinning the charkha in the Ashram.

AAP had won 27 seats in the Surat Municipal Corporation election and the party is banking heavily on this result that they would do recreate the same magic, just as they did it in Punjab.

Gujarat Assembly elections were held in 2017 December and the BJP had formed the government by winning 99 seats, Congress wins 77, and NCP won one seat. Bhartiya Tribal Party and Independent won 2 and 3 seats respectively. It was the sixth time BJP consecutively won the Assembly election in that state.
