PM Modi congratulates ‘friend’ Meloni as she becomes Italy’s longest-serving postwar PM
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday congratulated his Italian counterpart, Giorgia Meloni, on becoming the longest continuously serving prime minister in Italy’s postwar history.
Modi said the milestone reflected the “trust and confidence” that the Italian people have placed in Meloni’s leadership. Calling her his “friend,” he also credited her friendship with helping strengthen the India-Italy Special Strategic Partnership.
In a post on X, Modi wished Meloni continued success and said he looked forward to furthering close cooperation between India and Italy for a prosperous future for the people of both countries.
