He used to visits schools, colleges and Lingayat mutts to speak on Vachana and Dasa literature. He was honoured with the Karnataka Rajyostava award in 1995 and Padmashri in 2018.

‘Karnataka’s Kabir’ Ibrahim Sutar passes away

Bengaluru: Padmashri recipient, Karnataka’s Kabir, Ibrahim Nahisaheb Sutar passed away at Mahalingapur in Bagalkot district.

He had toured extensively in India to spread the message of Hindu-Muslim unity. He suffered a massive cardiac attack, he was 82.

Founder of Bhavaikyate Bhajana Mela spread the harmony messages. He reached out to the audience with Hindu and Islamic scriptures and he also emphasized ethics in personal life. He was well versed in both Kannada and Urdu.

Born to a poor family in Mahalingupur, he worked as an assistant to a weaver after dropped out from school. He has participated in bhajan in Sadhu Maharaj temple and attended the many lecturers in Sri Basvananda Swami mutt. His Bhavaikyate Bhajana Mela performed across Karnataka and Maharashtra.

Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai condole the demise of Karnataka’s Kabir Ibrahim Sutar. “I have deeply saddened after hearing the demise of Ibrahim Sutar. Throughout his life, he has worked to spread harmony in society. May almighty has given strength to his family to come out from the grief”, the Chief Minister said in a condolence message.
