World Bank offers additional 200 million dollars aid for war-ravaged Ukraine
The WB said that the funds being given to the war-torn country is part of the 3 billion dollars financial aid being announced for taking up relief and welfare works in the coming days to come.
Washington: Extending its financial aid to the war-ravaged Ukraine for taking up humanitarian works, the World Bank said that it is offering 200 million dollars. This money is in addition to the already announced aid of 723 million dollars a week ago.
The WB said that the funds being given to the war-torn country is part of the 3 billion dollars financial aid being announced for taking up relief and welfare works in the coming days to come.
David Malpass, the WP president who was participating in an interview with Washington Post, informed that WB is expected to clear the proposed package of 3 billion dollars assistance to Ukraine within a couple of months.
“ The impact of war on Ukraine is catastrophic. Ukraine has been devastated owing to war and economic activities have taken severe beating. The farmers who had cultivated crops in their farms, can no longer be harvested by them as they have migrated already”, he said and alleged that Russia is making every effort to make the Ukrainians bleed for cash and crop.
Stating that rebuilding the ravaged nation is extremely a mammoth task, he said that the present situation is also terrible in Ukraine, and added that rebuilding needs a huge amount of money.
He said to extend all possible help to Ukraine, the bank is making arrangements of giving money as much as possible. The funds would be used to develop projects to help the people of Ukraine, many of whom are now living in Poland.
He asserted that the first and the foremost priority of the WB is to provide immediate relief to the people of Ukraine who are facing devastation.
The World Bank said the combined total of support already approved for Ukraine stood at around 925 million dollars .
It said Austria had provided 10 million euros ($11 million) for a multi-donor trust fund set up by the World Bank to facilitate channelling grant resources from donors to Ukraine. That brought the total amount in the fund to 145 million dollars , the bank said.
