Poll debacle: Sonia Gandhi sacks five state PCC chiefs
The decision of Sonia Gandhi asking five state PCC chiefs to resign indicates that the grand old party decided to revamp its organizations in these states. But fixing responsibility on the PCC chief for poll debacle did not goes well in the organization.
New Delhi: Congress Interim President Sonia Gandhi has made five state Congress Presidents are responsible for the party's dismal performance in just-concluded Assembly elections. She has sacked five state PCC chiefs with immediate effect.
As usual, the grand old party has passed on the responsibility of party poor show to PCC Presidents of the respective state. Sonia Gandhi sacked PCC Presidents, Punjab, Uttar Pradesh, Manipur, Goa, and Uttarakhand.
Congress President's diktat asking PCC chiefs to resign and fixing responsibility to them has surprised dissent leaders in the party, especially G-23 leaders of the Party. Instead of taking responsibility and relinquishing the post, Gandhis have made PCC chiefs are responsible for party's historic defeat in the Assembly elections.
Uttar Pradesh Congress President Ajay Kumar Lallu, Uttarakhand Congress chief Ganesh Godiyal, Goa Congress chief Girish Chodankar and Manipur Congress president Nameirakpam Loken Singh have been asked to resign. However Goa Congress chief already submitted his resignation to Sonia Gandhi owing moral responsibility of party defeat in Goa.
