Delay in serving food irks groom, refused to get married

Patna: For silly reasons many marriages had been cancelled earlier. Before wedlock, both groom and bride sides called off the marriages.

But in Bihar’s Purnia, a groom has refused to get married after his family members were served food late.

Due to the delay in serving food, the angry groom has instantly announced for cancellation of the marriage and he returned all the gifts he had received from the bride’s father.

The Incident has taken place in Iswari Tola at Batauna village of Mohani Panchayat limits in Purnia. The Bride mother Meena Devi said that her daughter’s marriage was fixed with Rajkumar Oraon, a resident of Amari Kukraun, located in the Dhamdaha police station of Purnia district.

While in the wedding ceremony, the food was served later to the groom’s relatives. Groom has annoyed with the ill-treatment from the bride’s side and decided to cancel the wedding and he left the venue and the groom’s father has also supported his son’s decision to call off the wedding.
The locals and the panchayat tried to resolve the matter between the two sides. But to no avail, the groom had fled the venue.

Now, the bride's mother has lodged a complaint against the groom and his father at the Kasba police station.

Police station in-charge Amit Kumar said a complaint has been received and the matter is being investigated.

After the case was registered in the police station, the father of the groom has returned the money spent in the marriage.

The Father of the groom has returned the dowry amount to the bride’s father. He has also returned a bike and other gifts to the bride’s father. Police have registered the case.
