Bengaluru: Central Crime Branch (CCB) police have arrested Minister for Social Welfare, B. Sriramulu’s personal assistant, who allegedly involved in an extortion case on Thursday.

Sriramulu’s assistant, Rajanna, has been with the minister for the last eight years. CCB arrested Rajanna based on a complaint filed by BY Vijayendra, son of Chief Minister Shri. BS Yediyurappa.

Speaking to reporters before meeting with the Chief Minister, B.S.Yediyurappa, Mr. Sriramalu said that he would speak to Viajayendra in this regard.

Minister has expressed his displeasure for not informing him before the arrest of his PA. “There is some miscommunication regarding his arrest. I will speak to Vijayendra and the Chief Minister in this regard”, he said.

Mr. Sriramalu clarified that Rajanna is not his PA, but he knew him well for a long time. “If anyone is involved in unlawful activities, the law will take its own course. I will not interfere in the case,” he remarked.

However, Mr. Vijayendra has defended his decision of giving a complaint to CCB. “ There is an instance of misusing names of those who are in public life. Miscreants are misusing my name. It is inevitable for me to file a complaint”, he tweeted.

Sriramulu, a close friend of mining baron G. Janardhan Reddy, reacting to the media a day after the arrest said he would discuss the issue with the chief minister. Sriramulu. Sriramulu also said that there should be a transparent investigation of the complaint. Meanwhile, BS Yediyurappa called Sriramulu to discuss the issue personally before issuing statements to the media.
