Ramesh Jarkiholi CD case: SIT chief extends his leave
Bengaluru: The Special Investigation Team (SIT) chief Soumendu Mukherjee, probing the alleged rape case against former BJP Minister Ramesh Jarkiholi, has extended his leave by another month before submitting the investigation report to the Karnataka High Court.
Earlier, Soumendu Mukherjee had gone on two-month medical leave.
According to 24x7liveindia reports, the state government is insistent on proving the case as a honeytrap case to protect Ramesh Jarakiholi. The government had given oral directions to the SIT in this regard.
The high court directed the SIT to probe the case under provisions of the Nirbhaya Act, 2013. Perturbed by the direction, Soumendu Mukherjee has been requesting the government to relieve him as SIT chief.
The investigation was launched after a CD was surfaced with clips of Jarkiholi and a woman who were seen in a compromising position. Jarakiholi was alleged to have sought sexual favours from the woman in return for a government job.
Joint commissioner (Crime) Sandeep Patil, DCP Crime 1 Ravi Kumar, DCP central Anuchet, CCB ACP Dharmendra and Cubbon park police station police inspector are part of the SIT.
