M.B. Patil's support to BSY irks BJP
Bengaluru: Irked by unexpected support from senior Congress leader M.B. Patil to ‘outgoing’ Chief Minister B.S.Yediyurappa, the Karnataka BJP criticized that Mr. Patil was behind in dividing the Lingayat community.
In a series of tweets, Karnataka BJP termed M.B. Patil as a hypocrite. “Patil was instrumental in dividing the Lingayat community and spread false statements that Linagayat swamijee has supported a separate religion for Lingayats. Mr. Patil has also shown disrespect to Yediyurappa, but now he is shedding crocodile tears on Yediyurappa, he is trying to take political gain by supporting Yediyurappa, BJP tweeted.
BJP also tweeted, “it need not be recalled the incident that Mr Patil has shown disrespect to Lingayat pontiff during his agitation for separate religion status for Lingayats. Mr Patil ditched Lingayat community leaders and pontiffs by seeking separate religious status to the community”, bjp said.

“Even KPCC President D.K. Shivakumar has confessed that Congress's support to separate religion status to Lingayat was the reason for its defeat in the 2018 Assembly elections. But Mr. Patil has defended his stand by doing so he proved to be a disciple of Mir Sadiq of Congress party”, BJP tweets said.
