Siddaramaiah to meet Rahul Gandhi today
New Delhi: Amid fallout in the state Congress, former Karnataka chief minister Siddaramaiah is scheduled to meet Rahul Gandhi on Tuesday. The tussle between Karnataka Congress president DK Shivakumar and opposition leader Siddaramaiah over who will be the party’s face in the 2023 assembly elections has reached the high command in New Delhi.
Siddaramaiah, who is in Delhi, said, "There is no conflict between me and DK Shivakumar. We're together. We're building the party together…There's no rift in Karnataka Congress. Party will come back to power in Karnataka. Why should there be a rift? We're fighting against the corruption of BJP."
Siddaramaiah said as per the communication by KC Venugopal Rahul Gandhi wanted to meet him. "I don't know what subject matter he is going to discuss, " Siddaramaiah added.
Siddaramaiah also sought an appointment with Sonia Gandhi. He will meet if only Sonia Gandhi gives an appointment.
Back home, supporters of DK Shivakumar and Siddaramaiah want to see their leaders be the next chief ministerial candidate from the Congress party. Last week, videos of Siddaramaiah's supporters raising slogans hailing their leader as the next chief minister were widely discussed in the media reports.
