After much hue and cry from all quarters, BJP central leadership has directed Mr. Eshwarappa to resign from the Cabinet. Embarrassed with charges of 40% commission against him and BJP government, BJP central leadership asked him to step down from the cabinet

Bengaluru/ Shivamogga: Rural Development and Panchayat Raj minister K.S.Eshwarappa, who is allegedly involved in the suicide of civil contractor Santosh Patil announced his resignation to the Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai's cabinet.

In a hurriedly called press conference in Shivamogha today evening, 'tainted' minister Eshwarappa announced that he will submit his resignation to the Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai on Friday evening. 

"I have decided to resign from the Cabinet to avoid embarrassment to my party, leaders and the Chief Minister. Before taking the decision I have consulted with my senior leaders and Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai. I have informed the Chief Minister about my resignation to the cabinet, will submit the same after meeting him at Bengaluru on Friday evening", Mr. Eshwarappa said. 

"I wish to say thanks to my party leaders and chief minister for supporting me. I have full faith in the almighty If I am proved guilty, God will punish me. I have the highest faith in my home diety Choudeshawari, if I  have committed one percent wrongdoing, God will punish me, I will come out clean. Meanwhile, I  have requested the Chief Minister to order enquiry into the matter", Mr. Eshwarappa remarked. 

"Chief Minister has assured me that he will order an impartial enquiry into the matter. I once express my gratitude my party leaders and Sangh Parivar leaders for supporting me", said Eshwarappa. 

Pressure is mounting on Eshwarappa to resign from the Cabinet. Following party high command's clear instruction to the Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai to ask his resignation, with no option left, the Chief Minister telephoned to Eshwarappa to resign from the cabinet. 

Meanwhile, Congress has resorted day-night dharna demanding immediate arrest of Eshwarappa in connection to the Santosh Patil suicide case. 

Civil contractor and BJP worker, Santosh Patil was found dead in a lodge in Udupi on Tuesday morning. In a WhatsApp message, he sent to media people, blaming Eshwarappa for his death. Further Santosh Patil alleged that Mr. Eshwarappa demanded 40% commission from him to release grants for the work he has done in the RDPR department. 

Speaking to reporters Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai said that "Eshwarappa will come out clean from all charges. He informed me about his decision to quit the Cabinet, he will meet me tomorrow evening. I have confident that Mr. Eshwarappa will come out clean from the charges", he said.
