Karnataka: Veteran politician Madegowda hospitalized

Mandya: Veteran politician and former Lok Sabha from Mandya parliamentary constituency G. Madegowda (94) has been admitted to Mandya hospital.

Gowda, a prominent face in Cauvery agitation, is battling age-related illness.

Nirmalanandanatha Swamiji, the head of Adichunchanagiri Math, Deputy Chief Minister Ashwath Narayana and Mandya DC S Aswathi paid visit to the hospital today.

Madegowda, who served as Forest Minister in R. Gundurao-led Congress Government in the 1980s, was elected thrice from the then Kirugavalu Assembly segment in Mandya district.

He was also elected as Lok Sabha MP from Mandya twice in 1989 and 1991.
