Bengaluru: Beleaguered BJP leader and Tourism minister Anand Singh who threatened to resign to the Legislative membership for allotting a ‘less important" portfolio, done a sudden U-turn after meeting with Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai on Wednesday evening. 

Before coming to Bengaluru, Mr. Singh told reporters at Hospet that his political destiny would be decided by his home deity lord Vengopalaswamy; he is also hinted at resigning to the Assembly membership protesting over the injustice meted to him in portfolio allocation. However, after his meeting with BJP veteran B.S.Yediyurappa and Mr. Bommai ruled out the resignation to the Assembly membership. Mr. Singh said that he will hoist the tricolor flag onAugust 15th at the newly created Vijayanagara district. 

Mr. Bommai held a closed-door meeting with Singh at an apartment situated near Race Course road. During the meeting, Revenue Minister R. Ashok and Surapura BJP MLA, Rajugowda were present. The Chief Minister has reportedly suggested the beleaguered leader to meet BJP central leaders in Delhi. Mr. Singh has agreed to meet party central leaders in Delhi. After the Independence day celebration, Mr.Singh would likely go to Delhi to meet party top brasses.

Speaking to reporters after meeting with Anand Singh, the Chief Minister said that, “Mr. Singh has requested me to change the portfolio. However, I have explained to him about existing compulsion and told him to be patient. I will also discuss with the party high command about his demands. Mr. Singh has convinced and will hoist the tricolor flag on August 15. The issue has been resolved now”, the Chief Minister said. 

Mr. Singh said that he never said about submitting resignation to the Assembly membership. “My resignation news was the creation of media. Even in Hospet, I never said about resignation”, he said. 

Though Chief Minister has managed to douse the fire regarding discontent of the ministers who demanded plum portfolio but displeasure is simmering within and it may trigger in time in coming days.
