Uphaar Cinema fire: Ansal brothers get 7 years jail
Delhi based businessmen Sushil Ansal and Gopal Ansal have been sentenced to seven years imprisonment for tampering with evidence linked to a fire in Uphaar theatre in 1997 that claimed 59 lives.

Delhi Patiala House Court has also fined the Ansal brothers who running big property businesses ₹ 2.25 crore each. Both were convicted of tampering with evidence in the case a month ago.
The Ansals were earlier jailed for two years by the Supreme Court. Later, the court granted bail to the brothers and fined ₹ 30 crores each, which would be used to build a trauma centre in the national capital.
Two other accused in the Uphaar fire tragedy, Har Swaroop Panwar and Dharamvir Malhotra, died during the trial.
