Unique skywalk in Delhi opened for public use  

New Delhi: A 242 meter-long dedicated skywalk opened to the public on Saturday. It was built in partnership with Northern Railway by the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC). 
The one-of-a-kind skywalk connects Ajmeri Gate of New Delhi Railway Station to the nearby New Delhi metro station on the Yellow Line and the Airport Express Line.
According to the DMRC, the newly built skywalk is an extension of the foot-over-bridge inside the railway station and links the Ajmeri Gate side with the New Delhi Metro station as well as the multi-level parking opposite Bhavbhuti Marg via several access and exit points.
Escalators and CCTV cameras are available on the skywalk. Building this construction was difficult due to the high volume of traffic in the area, and it was a challenge. The COVID outbreak hampered the work, the statement said.
The skywalk will not only provide seamless connectivity but will also aid to improve traffic flow on the Ajmeri Gate side of the railway station.
