'Stop crying like Congress', DCM Sisodia slams BJP

New Delhi: Visibly upset with the BJP government of the centre for delaying in holding Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) elections, Deputy Chief Minister of Delhi, Manish Sisodia has taken the jibe at the centre by asking the BJP not to cry like Congress.

He said that the BJP should stop crying like the Congress and announce the dates for the MCD polls if the party has the courage to do so.

Sisodia, in a challenging tone, said that it will be a big achievement for the BJP if the party wins even10 seats in the polls.

The Delhi DCM’s issued this statement after Union Minister Smriti Irani accused the Delhi government of depriving the MCD employees of ₹ 13,000 crores.

Interestingly, the war of words began when CM Arvind Kejriwal blamed the BJP for delay in holding MCD elections and expressed displeasure over it. He said that by delaying the elections inordinately, the BJP is weakening the democratic system".

In reply to his press conference, Irani asked Kejriwal whether he knew that the Delhi government had deliberately deprived MCD employees of ₹ 13000 crores.

She accused the Delhi government of trying to sweep out the MCD treasury. She also demanded the CM to first deposit ₹ 13,000 crores in MCD's bank account.

It may be noted that the State Election Commission said that the Union Government has postponed the dates after it raised a few issues which first needed to be checked legally.

The SEC said that the Union Government has proposed to bring a bill in the parliament that will merge three MCDs of Delhi and make one MCD.

The SEC said that while the agency was all set to declare the dates, but now the date will be announced after about a week or so.

Meanwhile, the delay has caused anger in the AAP which is blaming the BJP for the delay as it feels that the party is deliberately playing delay tactics for the fear of losing power in MCD.
