Plea against Kerala Govt's decision to ease Covid-19 restrictions ahead of Bakrid
New Delhi: A plea has been filed in the Supreme Court against the Kerala government's decision to ease restrictions ahead of Eid-ul-Azha (Bakrid).
The apex court has sought the Kerala government's response on the plea. In a surprising move, the Kerala Government had eased restrictions ahead of Eid-ul-Azha (Bakrid). However, the state is witnessing a surge in Covid-19 cases and test positivity rate.
The Indian Medical Association (IMA) had warned the Kerala government against easing Coronavirus restrictions ahead of Bakrid because of the "inevitable, impending third wave".

The IMA said that if the government doesn't withdraw the order, they would be forced to approach the Supreme Court against the government order.
The Kerala government had declared that lockdown restrictions in the state would be relaxed for three days starting Sunday due to Bakrid being celebrated on Wednesday in the state.
According to reports, even in local bodies where the test positivity rate has been steadily above 15 per cent, restrictions have been waived for a day on Monday to enable people to go for festival shopping.
