Mumbai: After Turkish businessman Ilker Ayci declined to be CEO & MD of Air India, N Chandrasekaran, the chairman of Tata Sons, officially appointed as the new chairman of Air India. 

N Chandrasekaran’s term as Tata Son's Executive Chairman has been renewed for the next five years recently.  

Chandrasekaran was Chief operating officer (COO) and executive director of Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), where in 2009, he became Chief executive officer (CEO).

He joined the Board of Tata Sons in October 2016 and was appointed Chairman in January 2017. He also chairs the Boards of several group operating companies, including Tata Steel, Tata Motors, Tata Power, and Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) – of which he was Chief Executive from 2009-17.

Turkish businessman Ilker Ayci was appointed CEO & MD of Air India, however, he did not accept the offer. Mehmet İlker Aycı was the advisor of Recep Tayyip Erdoğan in 1994 and served as the chairman of Turkish Airlines from 2015 to 2022.
