Jamshedpur, May 23: Following protests from Muslim community over an objectionable post in social media by one Putul Singh of Parsudih, the police administration has issued strong warning over such posts. The members of the community have been staging demonstration seeking action against the culprit.

In Recent times there have been cases of social media posts that have disturbed the social fabric of our city. We have put such posts under scanner for Eid. We want people to follow norms and do not hurt religious sentiments by any kind of post,said a police official  .Citizens should not live in fear

SSP, East Singhbhum, M Tamil Vanan has said that social media will be under scanner due to recent spreading of rumours via various social media platforms on the occasion of Eid.

 He said that in the recent past several incidents took place in the city due to rumours spreading on networking sites. This time the police will ensure that such messages are put under scanner and those found guilty are taken into task. A strict vigil will be kept on such sites. He also released an appeal to the citizens requesting them not give air to any such rumours. 

 Administration has also decided to deploy around 600 strong force of district police accompanied by Rapid Action Force (RAF) jawans at strategic locations in communally sensitive pockets of city especially in Mango, Sakchi, Jugsalai, Shastrinagar (in Kadma), Dhatkidih (in Bistupur), Masjid Road (in Golmuri) and Bhalubhasa (in Sitaramdera).

Pickets would be posted and round the clock patrolling done to maintain law and order, he said, adding peace committee meetings have been held with various communities, who have assured cooperation for peaceful observance of the festival.

The lockdown has resulted in many changes in Ramadan this time. With markets closed and meat supply hit due to the COVID-19-induced lockdown, Muslims are in for a Ramzan without their favourite kebabs and other chicken and mutton dishes.

 The religious heads have appealed to Muslims to offer namaz during Ramzan at their homes and follow lockdown guidelines to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

�Since rituals are being followed at home, no one ventures out in the market places. We used to sell kebabs and biryani in the past, but things are different this time,� said an owner of takeaway centre.
