ISIS-inspired terrorist stabs 6 people at supermarket in Auckland, Police shoot him dead
Auckland: An ISIS-inspired terrorist stabbed six people at an Auckland supermarket on Friday before police who had him under surveillance shot him dead.
New Zealand supermarket stabbing a terrorist attack, news agency AFP reported quoting New Zealand PM Jacinda Ardern.
The slain militant hasn't been identified because of court suppression orders - but the work is already underway tonight to unmask the man, reported the News Zealand Herald.
Ardern said "This was a violent attack on innocent New Zealanders. It was senseless." "It was undertaken by an individual who was a known threat."
The man was under watch because of his extremist views and sympathies with Isis. "The terrorist is a Sri Lankan national who arrived in 2011," Ardern said.
