Goa Assembly Election 2022: Rahul Gandhi promises Rs 6,000 a month to every poor family in Goa

New Delhi: Congress MP Rahul Gandhi has promised Rs 6,000 a month to every family in poll-bound coastal state Goa.  Congress' assurance for the people of the state comes in response to BJP's campaign on social welfare schemes implemented in the last term.

Addressing a rally in Goa,  Rahul Gandhi said, "We're taking a historic decision in Goa. We will implement in Goa, for Goa's poor NYAY scheme, every month Rs 6000, 72,000/year direct benefit transfer."

"Nobody should sleep hungry. No parent must worry about their child’s education. Rs 6,000 a month to every poor family in Goa is our solemn promise! NYAY is a surgical strike against poverty, a much needed scheme for those left behind due to BJP favouring the richest few."

The BJP is campaigning that their government implemented various schemes for the welfare of the people. Through the Dayanand Social Security Scheme senior citizens, single women, disabled persons and HIV/AIDS patients receive monthly financial assistance.

Also, the BJP MLAs claim that Goa has prioritized strengthening the educational infrastructure and providing quality educational facilities all over the state.

Legislative Assembly elections will be held in Goa on 14 February 2022 to elect 40 members of the Goa Legislative Assembly. The votes will be counted and the results will be declared on 10 March 2022.
