Birbhum violence: Rampurhar Inspector sacked 

Kolkata: Police Inspector of Rampurhar Police Station, Birbhum district suspended with immediate effect said Additional DGP  Law and order.  He said he was suspended with immediate effect for his gross misconduct and dereliction of duty.

Police arrested Trinamool Congress Rampurhat-1 block president Anarul Sheikh from Tarapith, the arrest was made following orders from Chief Minister Mamta Banerjee.  The Chief Minister met the families of the victims in Bogtui,  she charged that the police did not their duty properly and said that the incident could have been avoided if the police had gone to the spot immediately. 

She alleged that Inspector in Charge and District Intelligence Bureau did not do their work properly. She said that action should be taken against those who willing failed to perform their duties.

Banerjee announced Rs five lakh ex-gratia to the immediate kin of the victims, Rs 50,000 to those injured in the incident. She also promised government jobs to 10 families. She announced Rs 2 lakh compensation for rebuilding the burnt houses. 

A delegation of West Bengal BJP led by Sukanta Majumdar reached Bagtui village, the delegation met victims of the violence. Just minutes before the arrival of CM in Bagtui, West Bengal Chief of Congress party Adhir Ranjan Choudhary was stopped by the police in Shantiniketan in Birbhum district. 

In Bogtui village, eight people, including two children and three women, were killed by a violent mob after locking them inside their homes. The miscreants set fire to their houses on Tuesday, and it is said that all those who died belonged to the same family.

Sources said that the attack was in retaliation after a local Trinamool Congress leader was killed in a crude bomb attack.
