Chennai: An Innova car belonging to Tamil film actor Silambarasan aka Simbu was involved in an accident on Monday night. The car, which was driven by his driver, Selvam, ran over a disabled person who was crawling to get to another end of the road in Chennai’s Teynampet.

The seriously injured 70-year old man died in the hospital the next day. According to the sources, Simbu’s father, T Rajendhar, took his granddaughter to a hospital for treatment and he was travelling in the car that was involved in the accident.

According to reports, Simbu's father promptly called the 108 Ambulance service after the accident, and the man was taken to a hospital. The actor learned about the accident, and his father drove away from the scene in another car sent by his family. The driver fled the site of the accident. The police have opened an investigation and are taking legal action.

The police have arrested the driver they have now booked the case under IPC section 304(A)(Death caused due to negligent driving). Sources said that Munuswamy was involved in drainage block clearing work and he had already suffered injuries on his leg when a manhole lid fell on his leg. 

It is said that the victim suffered injuries on his head, hip and legs.
