Noida: The Noida Authority on Monday informed the Supreme Court that the demolition of Supertech Ltd's twin 40-story towers in its Emerald Court project in Noida will be completed by May 22. The officials have also stated that demolition work has already begun.

The Supreme Court ordered the demolition of twin 40-story skyscrapers built in Noida's Sector 93 for violating building regulations in cooperation with Noida officials.

On August 31, last year, the court issued an order for the structure under construction to be demolished within three months due to violations of building regulations.

On January 12, the Supreme Court chastised the builder for failing to comply with its orders to demolish the twin 40-story structures in Noida's Sector 93.

On January 12, the Supreme Court reprimanded the builder for failing to comply with its orders to demolish the twin 40-story structures in Noida's Sector 93, and warned that its directors would be imprisoned for "playing truant with the court."

The court has ordered the Noida Authority and Supertech to adhere to all deadlines. The case's next hearing is slated for May 17.

The top court had ordered that home buyers' deposits be refunded with a 12 per cent of interest rate from the time of booking and that the Emerald Court project's RWA be compensated for the harassment caused by the twin towers' construction, which would have fresh air and obstructed sunlight to the existing residents of the housing project.
