Sidhu takes charge as Punjab Congress chief, Amarinder Singh share stage

Chandigarh: Navjot Singh Sidhu took charge as Punjab Congress chief on Friday in presence of Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh, Sunil Jakhar and party's general secretary in-charge of the state, Harish Rawat.

Punjab Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh arrived at Punjab Bhawan on Friday after Navjot Singh Sidhu arrived. Sidhu briefly left from the Bhawan 10 minutes after the arrival of the CM and later rejoined the gathering there.

Navjot Singh Sidhu left from his residence in Patiala, for Chandigarh. Members of his family are also accompanying Sidhu.

Earlier, CM Amarinder Singh invited the party's MLAs, MPs and senior functionaries from the state for tea. They went to Punjab Congress Bhawan for the installation of the new Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee team.

Sidhu had sent two letters to Chief Minister Amarinder Singh, requesting him ‘to come and bless the new team of PCC on the occasion of our taking charge’ in Chandigarh .

Fifty-six Congress MLAs have signed the letter. Sidhu has also invited AICC in charge of Punjab, Harish Rawat, to the programme.
