Kyiv: Russian Army forces seized the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant on Friday morning,  the largest nuclear power plant in Europe, according to the Ukranian official. The Ukrainian Government is expecting the worst nuclear disaster aftermath the attack. The fire broke out, reportedly inside a training building located on the outside of the largest nuclear power plant in Europe.

There was fierce fighting between Ukrainian and Russian forces, and this happened amid intense shelling between these two forces near the plant, said a source.  Meanwhile, Ukrainian foreign minister Dmytro Kuleba has urged Russian troops to stop attacking the nuclear power plant after this incident.

US officials said that the nuclear power station was shut down safely. Energy Secretary of the US, Jennifer Granholm, said that the station is protected by robust containment structures and the nuclear reactor was shut down safely. He also spoke to Ukraine’s energy minister in this regard. He also said that there was no enhanced radiation level at the nuclear plant facility.

Reports are coming in that the emergency services were able to access the nuclear power plant after the attack. US President Joe Biden spoke to the Ukrainian president about the incident.

UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson spoke to Zelneskyy, in the early hours of Friday. According to Johnson, Russian President Putin's reckless behaviour could jeopardise the safety of the entire European Union. He assured the president of Ukraine that his country would make all its best efforts to ensure the situation did not deteriorate further.
