Third seed PV Sindhu was defeated in straight games by second seed An Seyoung of South Korea in the women's singles semi-final of the Korea Open Badminton Championships 2022 on Saturday at the Palma Stadium.
The World No.4 South Korean shuttler started off with a roar, gaining a 3-0 lead, and she never let two-time Olympic winner Sindhu come even close to her, winning the match by a healthy margin of 21-14.

Former World Champion PV Sindhu opened the second game in the same way her opponent did in the first, grabbing a 3-0 lead, but the Korean won five straight points to take a 5-3 lead. It was a back-and-forth fight until 9-9, when the local girl took four points in a row to grab a 13-9 lead and never looked back, as Sindhu dropped the second game 17-21.
PV Sindhu's season came to an abrupt end after losing the semi-final match 14-21 17-21 in 49 minutes.
