With the exit of Dharam Singh Saini from BJP, total of 8 MLAs of the party resigned and were likely to join Samajwadi Party. BJP is trying to reach disgruntled MLAs, persuading them to stay in the party.

Lucknow:  Ruling BJP government in Uttar Pradesh has lost a third minister, powerful OBC leader Dharam Singh Saini quits Yogi Cabinet and is likely to join Akhilesh Yadav headed Samajwadi Party.

With the exit of Dharam Singh Saini, a total of 8 ministers, including 3 ministers quits BJP just 30 ahead of UP polls.

Dharam Singh Saini, a four-time MLA from Nakud in Saharanpur and a powerful OBC leader. Interestingly, Mr. Saini has rubbished the rumour of his quitting of BJP and he also criticized Swamy Prasad Maurya for quitting BJP. Even Chief Minister Yogi Adityananth has dialled Mr. Saini, requested him to stay at the party.

The resignation pattern of Mr. Saini is also similar to that of six BJP MLAs cited, blaming the Yogi government for neglecting OBCs, SCs, STs and youths.

Soon after his quitting from the Cabinet, Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav has tweeted a photo of him and welcomed him to the party.

Mr. Yadav has used the hashtag of Melahobe, a successful catchphrase of Khela Hobey (game on). Mr. Saini along with Mr. Swamy Prasad Maurya joined the BJP in 2016 after parting ways of their long-standing association with BSP.
