After a call from AICC leader Rahul Gandhi, Congress leaders have decided to call off Padayatra. Moreover, dozen of its leaders have tested positive after attending Padayatra.

Bengaluru: KPCC has called off its nine-day Mekedatu padayatra in midway after dozen of its leaders who attended Padayatra tested positive. Congress leaders have announced temporarily suspending Padayatra after a call from AICC leader Rahul Gandhi.

Congress leaders, Veerappa Moily, Mallikarjuna Kharge, Mallajamma, C.M. Ibrahim, H.M. Revanna, Prasad Abbaiah were tested positive after attending Padayatra.

Moreover, Congress Padayatra was widely criticized by people. Even High Court has expressed displeasure for holding Padayatra.

The government has filed FIR against 60 Congress leaders for violating Covid guidelines. After discussing with party leaders, KPCC President D.K.Shivakumar and Opposition leader Siddaramaiah has decided to call off Padayatra.

Congress leaders reiterated that Padayatra will be resumed where it was stopped once Covid cases become normal. Congress has organized nine the days of Padayatra, it was suspended on five days at Ramanagara.

Mr. Siddaramaiah blamed the BJP government for spreading Coronavirus. Considering the public health of the people, we have decided to call off Padayatra temporarily, the Opposition leader said.
