YS Sharmila, Jagan Reddy's sister, launches YSR Telangana Party

Hyderabad: YS Sharmila, daughter of former Andhra Pradesh chief minister YS Rajashekhara Reddy, launched a new political party on her father's birthday in Hyderabad.

The launch took place at a private function in Hyderabad, the capital city that Andhra Pradesh and Telangana share.

Sharmila and mother YS Vijayalakshmi paid respects at the final resting place of YSR at Idupulapaya in Kadapa. On Thursday morning, before flying back to Hyderabad.

According to reports, during the party's launch, Sharmila said, “It is a happy occasion to launch the party on YSR’s birth anniversary. I will bring back ‘Rajanna Rajyam’ and fight for welfare and development of Telangana.”

Sharmila's brother, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy, stayed away from the event.

YS Vijayalakshmi stood by YS Jaganmohan Reddy when he founded YSR Congress in 2011, the split from the Congress party in 2011. Now, she stood by her daughter in Hyderabad at the launch of the new political party.

Madhu Yakshi, TPCC Campaign Committee Chairman, suspected BJP’s role behind YS Sharmila launching a new party in Telangana.“Sharmila did not launch the party for people’s cause but to serve BJP’s agenda,” Yakshi was quoted as saying by media reports.
