Mumbai: The Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) won their second game in a row in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 on Monday at the DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai, defeating the Gujarat Titans (GT) by 8 wickets.

Kane Williamson led from the front with a beautifully-crafted 57, which was ably supported at the top by Abhishek Sharma's 42 as SRH chased down the target of 163 with 5 balls to spare.

The SRH openers, Kane Williamson and Abhishek Sharma, got off to a cautious start in their quest for 163.

Both openers stood for a 64 run partnership for the first wicket, Abhishekh Sharma was the first man to go, having scored 42 runs. Rahul Tripathi was retired, and hurt, after scoring 17 runs. After the departure of Williamson, Aiden Markram and Nicholas Pooran finished the game by scoring 12 and 34 runs, respectively. They won the game with five balls left.

Earlier, batting first, the GT scored 162 runs with the help of skipper Hardik Pandya's beautiful 50 runs. Except for Pandya, the GT batsmen struggled to score runs. GT's start was shaky as both openers, Matthew Wade and Shubman Gill, departed early. Gill was the first man to go; he scored just seven runs and Wade scored 19. GT lost three wickets for just 64 runs on board.

As David Millar and Hardik Pandya tried to stabilise the innings, they both stitched a partnership of 40 runs.

With the contribution of Abhinav Manohar’s 35, the GT scored a respectable 162 runs at the end.

For SRH, Bhuvaneshwar Kumar and T Natarajan picked up two wickets each, while Marco Jansen and Umran Malik picked up two wickets each.
