State seeks funds from Centre
Bengaluru: Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai said that the government has written a letter to the Centre seeking the release of grant to crop losses due to flood.
Speaking to reporters after paying homage to Gadduge of Shivakumara pontiff of Siddaganga Math here on Monday, Mr. Bommai said that as per the advice of the Centre, which asked the state to seek grants if necessary, the state has written a letter to the Centre seeking additional grants.
The state has requested the Centre to send a team to assess the crop losses, meanwhile, the state has also done a survey and assessed the crop losses, CM said.
Deputy Commissioners have Rs. 685 crore funds in their accounts, the government has directed all DCs to use fund crop losses. In a few districts, compensation has been released to the farmers who uploaded crop details in the App.
Omicron virus
The state has taken all precautionary measures to combat the new Omicron variant, already few clusters have been identified and asked authorities to declare containment zones and asked to do more testing.
Compulsory testing has been carried out at Airport, passengers have been allowed to enter the city only after they are tested negative. Authorities have been asked to keep a vigil on the passengers coming from Kerala, Tamil Nadu and Maharashtra, CM added.
