Sansad TV launched  at Parliament House Annexe

New Delhi: Vice President of India and Rajya Sabha Chairman, M. Venkaiah Naidu, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla jointly launched Sansad TV at the Main Committee Room, Parliament House Annexe on Wednesday.

The launch date coincided with the International Day of Democracy.

In February 2021, the decision to merge Lok Sabha TV and Rajya Sabha TV was taken, and retired IAS officer Ravi Capoor was appointed the CEO of Sansad TV in March 2021 for one year.

In November 2019, after deliberations between Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla and Rajya Sabha Chairman Venkaiah Naidu, a committee headed by former Prasar Bharati Chairman Surya Prakash was formed for the integration of the two channels.

Sansad TV programming will primarily be in 4 categories – functioning of Parliament and democratic institutions, governance and implementation of schemes/policies, history and culture of India and issues/interests/concerns of contemporary nature.
