PM Modi to Receive Brazil’s Highest Honour Amid Strengthening India-Brazil Ties

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to be awarded the Grand Collar of the National Order of the Southern Cross, Brazil’s highest civilian honour. The prestigious recognition highlights the deepening strategic ties between India and Brazil.
During his recent visit to Brasília, PM Modi was accorded a grand ceremonial welcome, featuring a 114-horse procession at the Alvorada Palace, a guard of honour, and the national anthems of both nations. Members of the Indian diaspora in Brazil also gathered to warmly receive him, reflecting the growing people-to-people connection.
The visit marks a major step in India's outreach to Latin America, with PM Modi scheduled to hold high-level bilateral talks with President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva. The discussions will focus on expanding the India-Brazil Strategic Partnership in key sectors such as trade, defence, energy, space, technology, agriculture, healthcare, and cultural exchange.
This accolade from Brazil adds to a growing list of international honours conferred upon PM Modi in recognition of his global leadership. These include:
