Karnataka CM, Ministers and MLAs salaries, perks gets hike

The salary of the Chief Minister will be increased from Rs.50000 to Rs.75,000. Ministers' salaries will be hiked from Rs. 40,000 to Rs.60000 and their annual perks will be increased from Rs. 3 lakh to 4.50 lakhs.

Bengaluru: The Karnataka Legislative Assembly approves the bill enhancing salaries and perks of the Speaker, Chairman, Chief Minister, Ministers, and MLAs. 
Since five days no business has been conducted in the House due to night-long dharna of opposition Congress members demanding the resignation of RDPR minister K.S.Eshwarappa over his remarks on the National flag. 
However today, the Assembly has passed the bill enhancing the salaries and perks of the elected representatives. 
Amidst protest of the Congress member over Eshwarappa’s issue, the Law and Parliamentary Affairs minister J.C. Madhuswamy presented the bill in the House, the House passed the bill through voice votes. 
According to the new bill, the salary of the Chief Minister will be increased from Rs.50000 to Rs.75,000. Ministers' salaries will be hiked from Rs. 40,000 to Rs.60000 and their annual perks will be increased from Rs. 3 lakh to 4.50 lakhs. 
HRA will be increased from Rs. 90000 to 1.20 lakh. Garden maintenance allowances have been increased from Rs.20.000 to Rs. 30.000. Petrol allowances of the members have been increased from Rs. 1000 to Rs.2000. 
JD(S) leader Bandeppa Kashampur has opposed the bill. Henceforth for every five years, salaries, allowances, and other perks of the MLAs will be increased. Without taking approval from the House, members' salaries will be hiked for every five years, stated in the bill. 
Amidst protest by the Congress members in the Legislative Council, Civil Services bill 2022 was passed in the House. To give legal sanctity to the 2011 KAS candidates. JD(S) members have welcomed the bill. 
Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai criticized the Opposition Congress for disrupting the proceedings for five days. Congress is doing injustice to the people instead of participating in the discussion, Congress has obstructed the proceedings for political gains, he criticized. 
The Speaker has adjourned the House to March 4, the Chief Minister will present the Budget 2022-22 on that day.
