Heavy to very heavy rainfall likely over Coastal & South Interior Karnataka
New Delhi: Isolated heavy to very heavy falls very likely over Konkan & Goa, Ghat areas of Madhya Maharashtra, Coastal & South Interior Karnataka and Kerala & Mahe during the same period, according to The India Meteorological Department report.
♦ The western end of the monsoon trough at mean sea level runs close to its normal position. Its eastern end lies close to the foothills of the Himalayas. The Eastern end of the trough is very likely to be north of the normal position till 19th July.
♦ An off-shore trough at mean sea level runs from Maharashtra coast to Karnataka coast. It is likely to persist during the next 4-5 days.
♦ Under the influence of these meteorological conditions:
i) Rainfall activity is very likely to increase with reasonably widespread to widespread rainfall with heavy to very heavy falls over Western Himalayan Region and over Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, East Rajasthan and north Madhya Pradesh from 18th July to 21st July and isolated moderate to heavy falls over Delhi on 18th July 2021.
Isolated extremely heavy also falls likely over Jammu division and Himachal Pradesh on 19th and Uttarakhand on 18th & 19th July.
ii) Fairly widespread to widespread rainfall with isolated heavy falls very likely to continue over the west coast and rest parts of west Peninsular India except over Gujarat state during next 5-6 days. Isolated heavy to very heavy falls very likely over Konkan & Goa, Ghat areas of Madhya Maharashtra, Coastal & South Interior Karnataka and Kerala & Mahe during the same period. Isolated extremely heavy also falls very likely over Konkan & Goa during 18th-21st and over Ghat areas of Madhya Maharashtra on 20th & 21st July 2021.
iii) Widespread rainfall with isolated heavy falls likely over northeast India and Sub-Himalayan West Bengal & Sikkim till 19th July and decrease in intensity after that. Isolated very heavy rainfall possible over Assam and Meghalaya on 18th and Sub-Himalayan West Bengal & Sikkim during 18th-19th July 2021.
♦ Moderate to Severe thunderstorms with lightning are very likely at isolated places over Uttar Pradesh and Bihar during the next 24 hours. They may cause injuries leading to casualties to people and animals staying outdoor.
