Bhubaneswar: The daylight loot which appeared more like a film script, two men not only looted a jewelry shop but also looted one more bike to escape from the scene when their first motorcycle broke down while fleeing.

The incident took place in one of the shops in Bhubaneswar in Odisha when the men looted valuables worth Rs 2o lakh from the shop.

After looting when they tried to escape, their motorcycle suddenly broke down. But the men were quick in sterling one more bike and succeeded in escaping.

CCTV footage captured the entire incident which showed two men parking their motorcycle near Sagarika Jewellers in Jalna on the outskirts of the state capital. The accused were wearing helmets.

Before looting, the men were seen spraying some chemical on the shopkeeper's face. But the alert owner pressed an alarm bell beside him, police said.


"They looted jewellery worth around Rs 20 lakh from my shop, but the exact value is yet to be estimated," the visibly-shaken shopkeeper told reporters.

After the incident, some local people arrived as they heard the siren sound. They could not do anything to help as they noticed a man with a gun.

High drama unfolded when the two came out of the shop in a hurry, but their motorcycle broke down. One of them desperately tried to start the vehicle as the pillion rider kept on pointing the gun at someone inside the shop.

"I came outside and tried to hit them with a stick, following which one of them opened fire at me," the owner said.
