"Due to severe rains and heavy crosswinds, arrivals at #AAI Chennai Airport will remain suspended from 1315 hrs to 1800 hrs, today. Departures will continue. The decision has been taken considering the safety aspect of passengers and severity of wind".
"Chennai Airport regrets the inconvenience caused to esteemed passengers due to severe weather conditions. Passengers are requested to contact the concerned airline(s) for any updates regarding schedules".

The Regional Meteorological Centre,Chennai, has issued a warning of heavy rains in the city. Thunderstorm with heavy rain is likely to occur at one or two places over Chennai, Chengalpattu, Tiruvallur, Kancheepuram districts in the next three hours.
Thunderstorm with moderate rain is likely to occur at one or two places over Villupuram, Cuddalore, Kallakurichi, Krishnagiri, Dharmapuri, Namakkal, Perambalur, Ariyalur and Salem district of Tamil Nadu and Puducherry and Karaikal in the next 3 hours.
