Cabinet expansion: Aspirants mount pressure on CM Basavaraj Bommai
Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai has decided to leave for Delhi on Monday to discuss party top leaders about the expansion. Mr. Bommai has sought an appointment with BJP National President J.P.Nadda and Union Home Minister Amit Shah to discuss both expansion and reshuffle of the Cabinet.
Pressure is mounting on Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai by party MLAs for Cabinet expansion.MLAs who eying on ministerial post demanding the Chief Minister to expand the cabinet without any delay.
Meanwhile, the Chief Minister has decided to leave for Delhi on Monday to discuss party top leaders about the expansion. Mr. Bommai has sought an appointment with BJP National President J.P.Nadda and Union Home Minister Amit Shah to discuss both expansion and reshuffle of the Cabinet.
At present there are four vacancies are left in the Bommai Cabinet, but many aspirants are seeking cabinet berths. BJP senior legislators, Basanagouda Patil Yatnal, M.P. Renukacharaya, G.H. Tippareddy, S.A. Ramadas, Rajugowda, Poornima Srinivas, Dattatreya Patil Revur and others demanding cabinet berth.
Cabinet aspirants have urged the party leadership as well as the Chief Minister not to wait for the completion of five states elections to take a decision on this regard. Dissident MLAs have warned the party leadership that any such delay will affect the party electoral prospects in 2023 Assembly elections.
BJP central leadership has yet to give nod for Cabinet expansion or the reshuffle. Sources in the party said that party central leadership has firm in its decision to drop ineffective and senior ministers in the Bommai cabinet. Central leaders have told party-state leadership that to prepare the party for 2023 Assembly elections, Government should have a vibrant cabinet which includes young faces. Thus few senior ministers are likely to be dropped from the cabinet.
Meanwhile the Chief Minister has said that if party high command gives green signal he will goahead with expansion.
