Bitcoin scam: Bommai shift the blame on Congress

Mr. Bommai speaking to the media after garlanding the statue of Jawaharlal Nehru on his 132ed birthday celebration. Mr. Bommai said that Nehru was given immense contribution for the development of India and laid a strong foundation for India's growth. Further Mr. Bommai said that due to the efforts of Nehru, India earned name and fame at International level.

Bengaluru: Chief Minister Basavara Bommai alleged that Siddaramaiah led Congress government has scot-free the prime accused Shriki in Bitcoin scam in 2016.

Hitting back at Congress spokesperson Randeep Surjewala's allegations of BJP is hushing the investigation of the bitcoin scam, Mr. Bommai countered that without any basis or evidence, Congress spokesperson made the allegation, it shows the bankruptcy of the grand old party.

“In 2016, the case came to light, but then Congress government has scot-free the accused without taking any action and closed the investigation. Now Congress leaders making false and baseless allegations against my government. Why your government not ordered for an enquiry then? “, Mr. Bommai questioned state congress leaders.  

“In 2018 accused was released on bail, why Congress government not ordered for his whereabouts and not enquiring into the details of the case. In 2020, the accused was arrested in drug-related case. It was the BJP government bring the Bitcoin scam before the public domain and ordered for an enquiry. Now ED and CBI are investigating the matter, there is no question of safeguarding any accused who is involved in the case”, Mr. Bommai remarked.

“Congress has accused that two big leaders are involved in Bitcoin scam, I urge them to disclose the names of those two big leaders it would help the investigating agency to proceed with the case and arrest those two bigwigs. Without disclosing anything, Congress is beating around the bush. First Congress let accused scot-free and now demanding for an enquiry”,  the Chief Minister said.

Congress spokesperson alleged theft of 5000 odd bitcoins, for his allegations no evidence, based on Twitter handle Congress is making baseless allegations. Being a National party Congress should act in a responsible manner, Mr. Bommai remarked.

There is no question of letting anyone scot-free in the case, the government has ordered for in-depth enquiry into the matter. If any bigwigs involved we will arrest them, the Chief Minister assured.
