Setting the target of winning at least 150 seats in the election from the government with a comfortable majority, Shah reportedly discussed the strategy to bring the leaders of another party in the BJP ahead of the polls. The State has 225 seat assembly, of which, the BJP wishes to win at least 150 seats.

Chairing the state BJP core committee meeting he reportedly held discussions with the top leaders of the state unit on polls preparations.

Later, speaking to media persons about the meeting, State president, Nalin Kumar Kateel said that Shah has given the party leaders guidance to implement the action plan aimed at BJP winning 150 seats.

He said that the committee also discussed the expansion and formation of various committees on priority.

Making it clear that the meeting did not discuss the early elections in the state, Kateel said that the party will complete its tenure.

To a question, he said that people from other parties joining BJP is a "continuous process", and that discussions happened on that issue also.

Ruling out leadership (Chief Minister) change or any discussions on the issue at the core committee meeting, Kateel, regarding the much-awaited cabinet rejig said, it is left to the discretion of CM Basavaraj Bommai, who after consulting the national leadership will take a decision on the matter.

Replying to the question of whether the meeting took the issues such as the Hijab row, denial of permission to non-Hindu traders around temples, and Halal meat Kateel did not give a direct reply. He merely said that deliberations happened on the current political developments.
