New Delhi: Delhi High Court's Division Bench on Thursday reduced penalty on actor Juhi Chawla from Rs 20 lakh to Rs 2 lakh in 5G wireless networks lawsuit.

The high court also expunged several observations made by Single Judge during the dismissal of the lawsuit filed against setting up of 5G wireless networks in the country.

In May 2021, B-town actor and producer Juhu Chawla had filed a lawsuit in the Delhi High Court against the implementation of 5G wireless networks raising concerns over issues related to the impact of the radiation on citizens, animals, flora and fauna.

The court stated the plea was filed to gain 'publicity' and that the plaintiffs, Chawla and two others, have abused the process of law. The Delhi High Court's ingle bench judge JR Midha had imposed a fine of Rs 20 lakh on the plaintiffs.

However, the Delhi high court on Tuesday proposed to cut down a fine worth Rs 20 lakh imposed on the actress and two other petitioners to Rs 2 lakhs.
