Mount Maunganui: Team India, captained by Mithali Raj, defeated Pakistan by 107 runs in their opening encounter of the ongoing ICC Women's ODI World Cup-2022 on Sunday at the Bay Oval in Mount Maunganui, kicking off their campaign with a win.

India batted first and scored 244 runs, and Indian bowlers bowled Pakistan out for 137 runs in 43 overs to defeat the archrivals.

Jhulan Goswami and Sneh Rana both took two wickets, but Rajeshwari Gayakwad was the most lethal bowler, taking four in her quota of ten overs.

India's women's team batted first and posted 244/7 in 50 overs. Smriti Mandhana, Sneh Rana, and Pooja Vastrakar each struck half-centuries, bringing the innings total above 240 runs. 

Rana and Pooja combined 100 runs for the seventh wicket as India scored freely towards the conclusion of the innings despite constantly losing wickets. 

Nida Dar and Nashra Sandhu each took two wickets for Pakistan. Mithali Raj, who had elected to bat, won the toss.
