Shivamogga: As tension still prevails in Shimoga city, a video of the deceased Bajarang Dal worker's sister requesting communal harmony between Hindus and Muslims is doing rounds on social media. 

Deceased Harsha's sister requested the youngsters and parents not to become victims of communal politics and asked them to keep themselves away from violence. 

She said, "Today my brother is in his grave because he fought for the Hindutva.  I pray to all my brothers, both Muslims and Hindus to strive to be good children to your parents. All this is not required". 

 

Harsha, a 26-year-old Bajarang Dal member, was stabbed by assailants on Sunday night in Shivamogga town. As the news spread, miscreants set vehicles on fire, stone-pelting incidents were reported in many parts of the town. 

Additional police forces have been deployed in the city to avoid untoward incidents. The administration has imposed restrictions on public gatherings, schools and colleges remain closed. Despite prohibitory orders, a large number of people were gathered at deceased Harsha’s house. The funeral procession was carried out under police vigil. 

Dr K Thiyagarajan, DIG Eastern range ,said, "We've taken 3-4 persons into custody. As of now, we strongly believe this has happened with regard to the previous enmity. Law & order situation is under control. Further probe on". 

BJP MLA MP Renukacharya announced INR 5 lakh compensation to the family. He said, "Congress is behind the murder of Harsha. He was killed because of DK Shivakumar, BK Hariprasad and  other Congress leaders. I urge the Home minister to hand over the case to NIA. I will give the compensation of Rs 5 lakh to the family".
