Mumbai: Controversial Narcotic Control Bureau (NCB)zonal director Sameer Wankhedre has been shunted out from Mumbai following allegations of extortion and demanding Rs. 8 crore payoff in the case involving Bollywood Shahrukh Khan’s son Aryan Khan drug case.

Mr. Wankhede investigating 8 high profile cases including Aryan Khan cruse ship drug case. Minister Nawab Malik leveled serious charges against Wankhede for exploiting celebrities and demanding Rs. 8 crore payoff  in Aryan Khan drug case.

Mr. Malik has also alleged that he has proof to substantiate his charges against Wankhede for demanding money from celebrities. After Rs.8 crore payoff charges, Mr. Wankhede has summoned to head office, he briefed to his bosses regarding charges.

A SIT led by senior police officer Sanjay Singh, a 1996 batch officer from the Odisha cadre, will take over the Aryan Khan case, as well another involving Maharashtra minister Nawab Malik's son-in-law.

Mr. Malik has demanded SIT probe in Aryan Khan and his son-in-law case, he stated that he has no confidence with Wankhede citing corruption charges.

“I had demanded an S.I.T probe to investigate Sameer Dawood Wankhede for kidnapping of & ransom demand from Aryan Khan. After my demand S.I.Ts are constituted (state & centre), let us see who brings out the skeletons from the closet of Wankhede and exposes him and his nefarious private army”, Mr. Malik tweeted.

However, the NCB clarified that "no officer or officers have been removed from their present roles".

Later Mr. Wankhede said that, he has not been removed from anywhere and he had asked for the cases to be transferred out from him, NDTV reported.

Sameer Wankhede was under attack by Nawab Malik and Prabhakar Sail, a NCB witness in the Aryan Khan case, brought his record and handling of cases into question.

"Sameer Wankhede removed from five cases, including the Aryan Khan case. There are 26 cases that need to be probed. This is just the beginning... a lot more has to be done to clean this system and we will do it," Mr. Malik said, he is likely to hold press conference in this regard.

Mr Wankhede filed an affidavit in the court stating he has been targeted for his probing cases against celebrities. He has referred Mr. Malik allegations against him, recently Mr. Malik alleged that Wankhede has forged caste certificate and other documents to secure a government job.
